This style gives you the opportunity to enjoy the majesty and charm of classic elements, such as ornately detailed furniture, moldings, and refined finishes, while incorporating clean lines, neutral colors, and contemporary materials for an updated touch. So how to get it? Here we present 3 key characteristics to achieve the modern classic style without dying in the attempt:

1. BALANCED AND HARMONIOUS ATMOSPHERES

The main goal of this style is to create harmonious, welcoming, and refined spaces that convey a sense of order and serenity. To achieve this, the essence of the classic style is preserved, with architectural elements, quality furniture, and refined details. But without falling into excess, rigidity, or monotony. For this reason, modern elements are incorporated to bring dynamism, contrast, and originality to the whole. In this way, a balance is achieved between the old and the new, between the ornamental and the practical.

2. A GAME OF TEXTURES AND BRIGHTNESS

In the modern classic style, the materials par excellence are wood or marble. These provide solidity and quality to the environment and are combined with more modern and lighter ones, such as metal, glass, or plastic. Moldings on the walls are a must. But, the predominant colors are neutral, such as white, beige, gray, or black. These tones create a sober and elegant base, on which more vivid and striking touches of color can be added, using cushions, rugs, or other decorative accessories. The shape of the objects also reflects the mixture of styles: straight and geometric lines alternate with curved and organic ones.

3. KEEP ELEGANCE, BUT ALSO SIMPLICITY

In contrast to the white walls, its furniture tends to be dark in color and with some peculiarities. It should be functional and comfortable, but without giving up elegance and good taste. You can use antique or classically inspired pieces, such as Chester sofas, or coffee tables with turned legs, but they’re given a more modern touch with smooth upholstery or geometric prints, and bright colors with metallic details. Decoration should be discreet and balanced, avoiding excesses and overloading. Classic decorative objects can be used, such as mirrors with gold or silver frames, but also more modern elements, such as cushions, rugs or curtains.
